I was walking down that path where you transfer from the L train to the G train and this big guy wearing a fedora came up behind me and shoved me- like pushed me to the side using both hands and kept walking. I was walking fast and the place was practically empty. happy valentines day 2 u too.
Do you ever listen to music like Chris Brown, Jason DeRulo, Nicki Minaj, etc.?@mylavenderpoppy
I never have before. It was kind of embarrassing actually because when I went to a lot of NYFW shows in fall of 2011, Nicki Minaj was sitting front row and we kept seeing her everywhere and I thought she was some fashion person with really awesome colorful hair, and when someone pointed out that it was Nicki Minaj, I was like “who is that?” I had never heard her name or any of her music. I’ve heard it since though and she’s obviously very talented. I live under a rock when it comes to popular culture.
Where did you get a job@Anonymous
American Apparel in Williamsburg. I’ve worked at other AA locations a couple years ago as a sales associate, but now I’m going to start out at as key holder and get trained to become a visual merchandiser.
I’m no longer unemployed!!!
ahhh I absolutely love VSCO cam! What are your favorite filters?@Anonymous
It’s so much fun! M4, S1, and T3 are my favorites ^.^ but it really depends on the photo so sometimes I’ll use a filter I’ve never used and redo the temperature, tint, and add colors to the shadows and highlights.
hi elle! i love the muted, dreamy quality if your photos: is this done through a photoshop effect, lens filter, or camera setting? i'd love to know!@drowsycontentment
thank you! all of my photos from the past 3 months were taken on my phone actually. I edit them with a very basic app (VSCO cam) that lets me do stuff similar to what I used to do in photoshop but much more simplified.
back in the day, when I actually picked up my camera, I mainly shot with a wide aperture (1.4) to get the background and sunlight to filter and diffuse in a certain way. Then I spent hours in photoshop using curves, levels, and tons of layers and masks, and pretty much drove myself crazy making sure every color and opacity level was completely perfect. And I genuinely enjoyed the whole neurotic process.
what are some of your favorite thrift stores in the city? love your blog and style xx@Anonymous
Here’s a little guide to my favorite vintage stores- all of which I’ve happened to have worked for:
Olives and Olaf’s Vintage -Carroll Gardens - There are 2 separate shops, one for womens (Olives) and one for mens (Olafs). They have some of the most amazing unique vintage designer items. It’s a bit pricey, but completely worth it considering that basically every item in the store is a gem. Some of my favorite dresses range from Edwardian and Victorian lace dresses ~early to mid 1800s, to psychedelic printed tops and pants from the 1970s.
Monk - West Village - Monk has three locations and each one is very different. The West Village location is the most vintage/designer label oriented one. You’ll find beautiful chanel dresses, prada shoes, whimsical costume dresses with sequins, mixed in with thrifted clothing from american apparel, free people, topshop, etc.
Monk - Williamsburg - The ~edgier~ location. Still has some great vintage designer items with a higher price point, but also lots of great affordable late-70s punk/post-punk, platform shoes, floral 90s dresses, as well as newer clothing from high end shops.
Monk - Park Slope - Don’t go here. It’s the store where the clothes from the other Monk locations that don’t sell go to sit around for a few months before they get sent to the salvation army. There is nothing here.
why don't you do photography anymore@Anonymous
After spending 4 years in school focused on photography, it started to feel more overwhelming than fulfilling and I needed to take a break from it. I want to try doing other things for a little while.
Good god girl!!! Ever heard vanity is unbecoming? What a slutty little narcissist! Your face kind of spoils the pretty picture every time. Why do you feel the need to share your skinny legs with the world? What are you compensating for? Jeez you seem so sad. It's weird when ppl have to post photos of themselves all over the Internet in order to feel that their life is important. Get a life!!! Just sayin.@wickedwitchothewest
I think it’s cool that even though I turned off anonymous questions, you made a blog specifically for trolling people. like, you must really care about getting these messages out to me. I must make you have lots of angry feels, and that means for some reason I’m important in your life- but I probably only think that because I’m a “sluttly little narcissist.”
